The problem of atmospheric electric field disturbance in geomagnetic field variations still does not have unambiguous solution. The authors analyzed available data of magnetometers and stations of atmospheric electricity. The data were obtained during the sub-storm on April 5, 2010, developed at the background of the moderate magnetic storm (Dst ~ –80 nTl).
Comparison of the data from fluxmeters and magnetometers showed unexpectedly strong variations of the vertical electric field Ez with the amplitude up to several hundreds of volt per a meter («electric storm») during intensive magnetic disturbances.
Though the Еz disturbance, observed over the whole globe, almost coincided in time with the magnetic storm, the coherence between geomagnetic and electric variations and electric variations among themselves was low. This event does not fit into the modern ideas on the disturbances of atmospheric electric field caused by ionospheric currents.
