Software to identify the disturbances in ionospheric E and F regions, preceding seismic activity intensification, has been developed
The author is the Researcher of the Laboratory of Atmospheric Physics of IKIR FEB RAS, Pavlov Alexey.
The software is aimed at identifying disturbances in ionospheric E and F regions on the basis of analysis of foEs, fbEs, fmin, h'Es, foE, foF2, h'F, hmF2 parameters deviations from their background values, which can be considered as possible ionospheric precursors of earthquakes under specified geomagnetic activity levels.
Geomagnetic activity levels can be specified in the software by K, Kp, ap, Ap and Dst indexes.
The results of the software are: identification of the time and duration of ionospheric disturbances; distribution of disturbance occurrence frequency according to seasons and day time; estimation of the reliability, adequacy and forecasting efficiency of the ionospheric data under investigation on the basis of Hansen-Kuiper criterion, Gussev A.A. and Molchalin G.M. methods; estimation of the probability of a seismic event occurrence of a specified energy range in the seismically active region under investigation when identifying ionospheric disturbances complex; estimation of the empirical dependence connecting earthquake energies with their epicentral distances and the lead time of ionospehric disturbances of an earthquake occurrence moment.
The software can be applied to investigate ionospheric precursors of earthquakes and short-term forecast of earthquakes.
