The paper "Fair weather and electric field convective generator" has been published in Atmosphere Journal by MDPI publishing house
Author: Leading Researcher of the Laboratory of System Analysis of Atmospheric Processes of IKIR FEB RAS, Dr. Sci. (Phys.-Math.) Smirnov Sergey Eduardovich.
The paper is devoted to the problem of determination of fair weather for atmospheric electricity in Kamchatka (Russia).
Fair weather conditions had been previously determined by observer expert assessment. After the transition to automatic digital methods for measurements of meteorological parameters, the necessity to determined fair weather criteria appeared.
This paper describes fair weather criteria based on digital measurements during summer and winter observations when the set of meteorological instruments is limited.
An algorithm for determination of fog during a day based on air humidity measurements is proposed. Sometimes there is a morning convective generator effect in atmospheric electricity diurnal variation. The time of morning convection maximum is determined by the sunrise time. This entails the problems of averaging of electric field diurnal variation over a long time period.
It was suggested to consider the days with morning convective generator effect and days without this effect separately during the processing of long data series.
