The Leading Researcher of IKIR FEB RAS, Dr. Sci. (Phys.-Math.) Smirnov S.E., participated in the International Conference for Coupling of Earth's Spheres (ICES), Prediction, Early Warning, and Nowcasting of Nature Hazards which took place in Chengdu, China
The event took place at the beginning of March on the base of the Chengdu University of Technology, China, and was aimed at discussing the key issues associated with nowcasting of the Earth’s and space weather, mechanisms of interactions between different geospheres and early warning on natural hazards.
Smirnov Sergey made the presentation «The influence of solar, seismic and volcanic activity on the Earth's electric field».
Earth’s lithosphere, atmosphere, ionosphere and magnetosphere are associated with each other. This is the most clearly expressed during the periods preceding large natural hazards such as earthquakes, volcano eruptions and tsunamis. Investigations in the field of forecasting of these associated systems and early warning provide an opportunity to save people and their properties and also to give us insights into geospheric interactions complexities.
Participants of the International Conference visited the test field of geophysical measurements of Leshan Normal University. The MVP-LAI measurement system, installed here, includes more than 15 different instruments for regular monitoring of oscillations and disturbances in geospheres applying more than 20 different geophysical parameters.
