Research of solar eclipse effects was carried out by the means of sounding on the system of VLF radio path
crossing the zone of movement of Moon shadow in the Earth atmosphere. The experiments showed sharp fluc-
tuations of VLF field characteristics caused by the decrease of electron concentration in the shadow zone and
wave-like change of electron concentration in an extensive zone including partial eclipse. Radio observations
during the solar eclipse allow us to study the ionosphere processes occurring in the conditions of fast change of
solar radiation intensity at almost constant Sun zenith angle. Some results concerning the eclipse on August
1st, 2008 are discussed in this report.
