The present paper is devoted to the analysis of orientation of ionospheric disturbances registered over Japan
territory on February 12, 2000. On the basis of dense Japanese regional GPS network (GEONET) data we
analyzed the dependence of angular characteristics of transionospheric radio signal scattering on ionospheric
irregularities. It was shown that in the presence of irregularities there were phase slips of L2 frequency for the
line-of-sights aligned to magnetic field line as well as across it. This effect is more significant in the first case.
The number of GPS receivers which registered L2 phase slips for line-of-sights aligned to magnetic field line (at
the ionosphere altitude) approached to 6-7
