Influence of a single lightning on the electrical field intensity of the air and on acoustic emission of near surface rocks

  1. Institute of Cosmophysical Research and Radio Wave Propagation FEB RAS

The effect of influence of a single lightning on the electrical field intensity in the near ground atmosphere
was investigated. The effect appeared as a sharp fall of the value of intensity potential gradient from 80 V/m
up to minus 21 V/m. Then the field returned to its level according to the formula of capacitor charge recovery
with the characteristic time of 17sec. Simultaneously with the electric field a response of acoustic emission of
the near surface rocks in the range of frequencies 6.5 - 11 kHz to a lightning was found out.
