Methods for recording and for time-frequency analysis of geoacoustic emission signals
- Institute of Cosmophysical Researches and Radio Wave Propagation FEB RAS
The monograph is devoted to the new methods for recording and time-frequency analysis of geoacoustic emission signals. To conduct the survey in a wide sound frequency range from units of hertz to the first tens of kilohertz, piezo-ceramic hydrophones were installed by the bottom of artificial and natural water reservoirs. To determine and to locate the geoacoustic signal generation areas, a composite receiver was applied which realizes the vector-phase method for the detection of sound wave arrival direction. This made it possible to determine the direction of geoacoustic radiation source and to analyze the geoacoustic pulses flux with respect to their directions both for high repetition frequency and when they are deformed in the result of wave scattering on medium nonhomogeneity. Based on the sparse approximating schemes, a new descriptive model for pulse geoacoustic signals was constructed. It reveals geoacoustic pulse structure developed in the result of their source formation. A method for time-frequency analysis of geoactoustic emission was suggested. It applies the algorithms of sparse approximation with dictionaries formed on the basis of Gabor and Berlage functions.
The book is intended for physicians, engineers, specialists in digital processing of complex natural signals. The new methods for recording and analysis can be applied in geophysics, acoustics and seismology.
