The effect of solar flares on the Earth's ionosphere during the 24th cycle of solar activity

The study of ionospheric effects based on the data of a number of solar flares of various power classes (X-, M-, C-class) obtained by the global navigation satellite systems for the period from 2014 to 2017. Our results demonstrate that the algorithm for averaging the derivative of the total electronic content variations for all stations on the Earth dayside can accurately identify the presence of X-class and M-class flashes with sufficient accuracy for practice in automatic mode (the error of "signal skipping" is approximately 2.76%). It is also shown that in some cases the variability of the ionospheric response is a consequence of the difference in the dynamics of solar radiation in the X-ray and ultraviolet ranges.
