Seismic phenomenon as a process of unstable nonlinear structure destruction on the example of the Kronotsky earthquake on December 05, 1997
As the degree of instability of an arbitrary nonlinear system increases and it approaches the critical state, both the intensity of parameter fluctuations and the correlation time and length increase. Considering the lithosphere as an unstable nonlinear system, which is under the influence of external disturbance factors and develops according to the scenario of nonlinear dynamics, using a probability-theoretic approach to the catalog of Kamchatka earthquakes, the changes in the seismic regime preceding the strong Kronotsky earthquake on December 05, 1997 were investigated. (h=10 km, K=15.5, Mc=7.7) in the areas located along the eastern coast of Kamchatka. It is shown that the Kronotsky earthquake was preceded by a correlated change in the seismic regime, which covered large spatial areas in which the intensity of weak earthquakes increased (K≤14.0), and the intensity of earthquakes in each of the sectors under consideration, since 1994, began to shift towards depths of 5-10 km.
